Animated oddities - 2-day cutout stop-motion animation workshop IN POLISH ONLY

Creative stop-motion workshop that will let participants develop both artistic and technical skills. The workshops are aimed at children and youth aged 8–15 and will be conducted as interactive sessions that actively engage participants in the creative process.

Workshop plan:

Day 1:

Stage 1: Discussing the different techniques of stop-motion animation (30 minutes)

  • Introduction to various stop-motion animation techniques, such as cut-out animation, puppet animation, drawn animation, and others.
  • Discussion of examples of well-known animations and their creators as inspiration for participants’ own work.

Stage 2: Development of the idea and storyboard(1 hour)

  • Introduction to the basics of stop-motion animation.
  • Creating a storyboard together that will serve as the basis for further work.
  • Developing the concept for participants’ own animation as a way to build creativity.

Stage 3: Creating characters and set  (1,5 hours)

  • Making characters and set elements from paper and other materials.

Day 2:

Stage 4: Animation (3 hours)

  • Division into groups and work at four stop-motion animation stations.
  • Creating animations in groups using previously prepared characters and set elements.
  • Presentation of the completed films, followed by an exchange of experiences and ideas.

Marcin Roszczyniała – graduate of Łódź Film School, producer and director of animated films, founder of 25frames animation studio. He specialises in animation (stop-motion, 2D, 3D) and post-production. He has collaborated on well-known productions such as Rodzina Treflików as well as music videos for Ania Dąbrowska, Sarsa, and O.S.T.R. He has conducted numerous film workshops at festivals across Poland (including Animocje, Katar, and Płońsk). His technical and artistic expertise will help children create fully professional film forms.

Karolina Rosińska-Roszczyniała – visual artist, graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Art Education), as well as a certified visual artist and educator. She combines painting and drawing with a passion for photography and set design. Her works, inspired by folklore and fairy tales, have received numerous awards and have been exhibited in galleries. She has extensive experience in scenography and currently works as a set designer on stop-motion film productions. As an experienced instructor, she leads workshops that effectively develop children’s artistic imagination.

Karolina Drabik –She is a graduate of the University of Łódź, where she studied Administrative Law. An educator and artist, she left a corporate career to pursue creative work. She co-created the project Forteca Dziecięcego Speca, organizing creative day camps for children. Karolina is actively involved in community initiatives supporting the local environment. As an experienced instructor, she leads numerous stop-motion animation workshops for children and young people, sharing technical knowledge and nurturing the artistic imagination of young creators and artists. On a daily basis, she co-creates the studio 25 Frames and the Kolory Foundation, combining organizational skills with an artistic spirit.
