Boundaries of the Body and Art: Conversations on Sexuality and Identity

During this meeting we will take a closer look at how body, identity, sexuality and imagination function in arts and the everyday experience. The discussion will be inspired by the works of Sawako Kabuki and it will exceed the established patterns, connecting artistic and psychological perspectives.

The discussion will feature::

Nastia Naumenko – visual artist and director, exploring the relations between the real and the fictional world.

Nadia Kostrzewa – a psychotherapist and researcher of psychoanalysis.

Jakub Hartung‑Wójciak – a psychologist and sexologist focusing on embodiment, identity, and sexuality.

The debate will be led by Jagoda Ptaszyńska from the Section for Equality and Social Innovation “Splot".

Nastia Naumenko – visual artist and animation director. Her main area of interest is the interdependence between the real and fictional worlds, which is why most of her works combine elements of documentary and fiction. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and die Angewandte in Vienna. She is the creator of two animated films: We hope you won’t need to come back and Can you hear me?, which were presented at dozens of festivals around the world and won several awards. She is currently working on the production of her third film, I'm Not Nearly Cool Yet.

Nadia Kostrzewa - a certified psychotherapist of the Polish Society of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (PTPP). She is the editor-in-chief of the quarterly IDioMY – Psychoanalysis and Social Life. She won the PTPP paper competition for her presentation on the psychoanalytic understanding of helplessness and madness. She is also a laureate of the International Psychoanalytical Association competition titled Mind in the Line of Fire: Psychoanalytic Voices to the Challenges of Our Times. Her essay, published in the book of the same name, represented the Polish perspective. She publishes her texts on WunderBlog and in the EFPP E-journal, and she lives and works in Bydgoszcz.

Jakub Hartung-Wójciak - a graduate of Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology at Kazimierz Wielki University (UKW); currently a PhD candidate at the UKW Doctoral School. He is a member of the Polskie Towarzystwo Terapeutyczne. He completed postgraduate studies in sexology and is a co-author of a recently published monograph on senior sexuality. In his research, he focuses on body image, embodiment, and identity, including sexual and gender identity. In his private psychological and sexological practice, he provides individual and group psychological support and prepares expert opinions in cases concerning gender incongruence.
