15th Animocje. Quite WEIRD weekend [April 24th & 25th]

2026.04.24

On Friday morning, we meet for a youth anime in which Karin meets Anzu, a talking cat the size of a human. And the cat, being a cat, follows his own path, yet is also lazy and mischievous. Find out what this encounter will lead to by attending the screening at the Orzeł Cinema. At noon, we move to the welcoming premises of the Academy of Music for a seminar and networking event, the aim of which is to exchange knowledge, experiences, and ideas, as well as to initiate collaboration between people involved in animation in various academic and artistic contexts. At 4:00 PM, the Music Cafe Szpulka will host the final Q&A session, hosted by Piotr Kardas. After intense conversations, we move to the cinema for the final screening of the Main Competition. Friday evening will begin with a curated screening by Aleksandra Ławska, with the rather intriguing title: "Remember?". It's worth checking out what STRANGE the creator has found in the recesses of human memories. The festival guarantees excellent cinema, complemented by equally excellent music performed by Dynasonic. During Anibattle, a concert featuring an animation battle, you'll experience complete madness projected onto two walls. You have to see/hear it.

We're kicking off the weekend with family workshops at the Wspólna Gallery. During two days of meetings, a trio of animation artists will introduce us to the process of creating stop-motion animation using the cutout technique. At the headquarters, we'll meet at 1:00 PM for a masterclass with Nienke Deutz, who will discuss her animated documentary and her latest project. Late in the afternoon, we'll move to the atmospheric VELVET for two special events: the opening of an exhibition of graphics by this year's juror, Sawako Kabuki, and a meeting with invited guests during which we'll discuss sexuality and identity. Together, we'll explore the boundaries of the body and art. For the evening, we've prepared the final curatorial set, prepared by Croatian musician and animation creator Daniel Šuljić. On Saturday evening, you'll also meet the winners of the 15th Animation Festival. Join us for the gala (not a gala) at 8:30 PM at Music Cafe Szpulka. At the end of the day, we'll share our knowledge of animation with you during a quiz. It's going to be exciting!
